First there was Caneel, a find that very much changed Ming-Kahuna. Some time later I stumbled upon Bali, a orange/gold version of Caneel. Both materials, exceptionally rare, continue to be a much valued part of my work offering a unique beauty that in some ways defies description.
For this Bali piece, named “Squire”, I have created a shape that will have excellent ergonomics, a rakish look, and will provide an excellent fit in all but deep bowls. I have so much fun when I sit down and just start carving. The game plan is having no game plan.
Squire in Bali will come nestled in a Neil Flancbaum created buckskin leather pouch.
