The Proteus is one of my shapes that best typifies the central concept behind what I do: a synthesis of form and function. It has that asymmetrical flare, an aspect of my work that is so important, making it clear that that it came straight from my hands and not churned out by some machine. The material is a new one. For months I contemplated the unworked bar thinking that it might be really something. It is. There is a whole lot to the material that won’t show in a photo. It won’t disappoint.
